If you feel as though you’re stuck in a rut at work, or you feel that your work life is causing you to feel burnout, then this is the post for you. In today’s post, we’re going to suggest 3 ways that you can get out of that rut, or avoid burnout.
If there’s anything I can relate to, it’s being in a work rut! Indeed, it’s a funny place to be really, because on the one hand you’re unhappy (or unfulfilled, or whatever), but on the other hand, you’re not quite ready to bail. Maybe there’s still enough parts of your job that still excite you, or maybe you’re eternal optimist and you believe things will get better next week/month/year. Whichever of these sound familiar to you, I hope that you get something positive out of today’s post.
So, what can you do to get out of that work rut? May we suggest the following?
1. Have some alone time
Often we get so wrapped up in looking outwards, that we forget to look within, but did you know that looking withincan really help you understand your thoughts and feelings? So, the best thing to do if you’re feeling stressed, unsure, scared, doubtful, or burnt out, is to stop focusing in the wrong places i.e, your job!
2. Look so mewhere else for fulfilment and joy
If you’re not getting your daily dose of fulfilment and joy from work, then it’s clear that you need to get it from somewhere else. Therefore, you’ll need to do some soul-searching to see what else adds joy to your life – for example, seeing friends, playing with a pet, or participating in hobbies.
For those of us who are rather partial to spending time at work, or who have a pressing deadline, it can be difficult to take a step back, but finding some time to focus on these other areas in your life, can really pay dividends.
3. Foster a sense of clarity
Have you ever felt that you “can’t see the wood for the trees”? You wouldn’t be alone if you have, but did you know that talking to a professional therapist, colleague or friend can really help? If talking isn’t your strong point, or if you’re interested in a different approach, maybe you could consider hypnotherapy, to help you tackle this very serious issue.
We hope these ideas help you start to climb your way out of that rut, but if you think we can help you, please check out our own hypnotherapy services, or check out a different therapist.
